Gary Petersen, CPA, Managing Partner
Gary Petersen, CPA is a Founding Partner and is the current Managing Partner here at A+P CPAs. He brings more than 30 years of experience to the table in almost every aspect of public accounting including but certainly not limited to entity selection, taxation, estate planning, not-for-profit, advisory services, all aspects of many industries such as construction, medical, and professional services, and the list goes on! He is very generous with his time and expertise and teaches frequent classes to contractors teaching them how to use best practices to run their construction businesses and to become the best “businessperson” they can be, while keeping a focused eye on their overall operational efficiencies, income maximization, and tax liability. His talent as the leader of our workplace is to provide opportunity to each employee that allows them to flourish and thrive while they provide for their family, and to recognize and appreciate and especially to remind us that family is our priority.
Gary is also very committed to making the world a better place one day at a time. His service to his community includes twenty-two years on the West Point City Council, eighteen years on the North Davis Fire District Board. Gary is a Past Chair – twice on the Board of Directors of the Davis Chamber of Commerce where he was recently recognized by that organization with their very prestigious Legacy Award. Gary enjoyed contributing to several amazing organizations on various boards, and he is especially proud of his service on the Board of PARC (Pioneer Adult Rehabilitation Center). PARC is an affiliate of a non-profit organization called Service Source which is a national, $240 million organization of which Gary is also serving as Vice Chair of their board of directors. Our firm had the opportunity to tour the facilities of PARC and were humbled by the opportunities that PARC provides for adults with disabilities. The ability to be involved in the process of changing and enriching lives is very close to his heart.
Gary loves to say that he isn’t just another boring accountant! He has many hobbies and interests outside the world of numbers. Number one of which is spending time with his wife Carolyn and their kids and grandkids. He is also a cycling enthusiast who has competed in the famed LOTOJA bike race which is a grueling 206-mile race including three mountain ranges with total elevation climb of around 10,000 feet from Logan, UT to Jackson WY. He and Carolyn also love traveling and have been to Europe experiencing “pinch me” moments every day! He is a hands-on grandpa and when he isn’t crunching away at tax numbers, you can usually find him crawling around on the floor with a toddler!
